5 Albums I Can’t Live Without: Graham Gouldman of 10cc

    Name  Graham Gouldman 10cc

    Best known for  Songwriter/Musician

    Current city  London

Really want to be in  Kerala India sailing on the backwaters.

Excited about  My new solo album I Have Notes released on July 5th.

My current music collection has a lot of  Everything.

And a little bit of  Classical music.

Preferred format  CD for the sound.

    5 Albums I Can’t Live Without:

    1

    Revolver, The Beatles

I wouldn’t be writing in this magazine if it wasn’t for the Beatles. They have informed pretty much everything I do as a songwriter, musician, and producer. I could have chosen any of their albums, but this album contains such brilliant songs that I could only dream of writing. No Beatles, no 10cc.

    2

    Graceland, Paul Simon

A master songwriter and guitarist who is in my Top 10 songwriters of all time. Simon’s songwriting together with the South African musicians who play and sing on the record make a wonderful collaboration that helped bring international awareness of apartheid.

    3

Long Player Late Bloomer, Ron Sexsmith

I first met Ron when we were both part of a BBC program called Songwriters’ Circle in 2011. Every song he played I got immediately and this album contains some real gems that I never get tired of listening to.

    4

    Absent Friends, The Divine Comedy

This album accompanied me through a difficult period in my life. Neil Hannon’s beautiful voice and songs struck a chord with me even though there was no obvious connection to what was going on with me at the time. I also love the orchestral arrangement on this album.

    5

The Magic Garden, The 5th Dimension

I was given this album in 1967 and it was my first introduction to the songwriting genius of Jimmy Webb. His songs are perfectly delivered by the Fifth Dimension accompanied by the Wrecking Crew, a collection of L.A.’s finest session musicians.

10cc kicks off their North American tour, their first U.S. tour in 30 years, on July 24 in Montclair, NJ. Visit their site for more info.
