Sean “Diddy” Combs has been placed on suicide watch while in custody at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, according to People,
The 54-year-old rapper was arrested earlier this week on federal sex crime charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs pleaded not guilty to all charges, but was denied bail after a judge agreed with prosecutors that he posed a flight risk and a threat to witnesses.
In requesting bail, Combs’ attorneys cited conditions at Metropolitan Detention Center, where an inmate was murdered earlier this summer and at least four inmates died by suicide in the past three years. Jeffrey Epstein also notably took his own life at Metropolitan Detention Center in 2019.
Combs will remain in custody until his trial gets underway. People reports Combs was placed under suicide watch as he is in shock and his mental state is unclear.
