Former NFL star Danny Amendola is surprising Dancing With The Stars viewers everywhere. Few thought he would be a front-runner when the season first premiered. But by learning from his partner Witney Carson, he’s dramatically improving week after week.
During Dedication Night, the pair performed a Contemporary routine without shoes. Going barefoot is pretty standard for Contemporary, but it prompted Danny Amendola to make a few raunchy jokes.
Danny Amendola Jokes About Monetizing Feet Pics
Avid internet users know there’s a running joke about people selling photos of their feet online. Current DWTS contestant Danny Amendola thinks photos from his barefoot Contemporary routine might fetch some money on the internet.
“I love feet, you got to walk on them every day,” the 38-year-old shared with Us Weekly after his Tuesday night performance. “They’re dancing feet, they’re working feet. My feet are terrible to look at, but yeah, thanks for being a fan.”
Danny Amendola and his partner Witney Carson admitted they’ve been joking about his feet a lot lately. The dancer videotaped Danny taping up his feet, thinking absolutely nothing of it.
“I didn’t even think about that when I was videoing,” the mother of two adamantly stated, prompting the football star to joke he needs to monetize the video.
All jokes aside, Danny is quickly realizing how much hard work and energy it takes to be a successful dancer. And it’s taking a toll on his feet.
The NFL Player Details Foot Injuries From Rehearsals
Dancing is a completely new adventure for Danny Amendola, but he admitted he’s having a great time on the show. But it’s not without injury.
“Bare feet on wood when you’re spinning around, it is blister city,” he explained to Us Weekly. “I think I got three toes taped at this moment right now that are throbbing. That’s dance life, man.”
The football star and Witney performed a fantastic Contemporary routine to “Unsteady (Erich Lee Gravity Remix)” by X Ambassadors on Tuesday night’s episode and dedicated it to the memory of his late coach, Mike Leach. They moved the ballroom to tears and earned a phenomenal 36/40 from the judges — tied for the top of the leaderboard with Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson.
It’s too soon to say who will take home the Mirrorball Trophy, but Danny and Witney are quickly winning more fans.
