Fans noticed Ginger Zee’s recent absence from Good Morning America. The meteorologist took to social media to share her story with concerned fans. However, she also revealed there would be more of a break to come.
Ginger Zee Has Quite A History Working With Weather
Zee, joined Good Morning American Weekend back in 2011. In 2013, ABC News announced she would become Good Morning America‘s Chief Meteorologist, as well as ABC News’ weather editor.
In addition to this, Zee has also occasionally appeared in celebrity-themed competition events. This includes an appearance on Celebrity Jeopardy! and competing on the 22nd season of Dancing with the Stars. Paired with Valentin Chmerkovskiy, the two finished in third place.
However, Zee was previously absent on a past Tuesday episode on Good Morning America. As Monsters & Critics noted, many fans took to social media to voice their concerns.
As the publication noted, one fan wrote on X, “Ginger, are u ok? When will u be back on GMA? Worried about you.” Zee herself took to the comments to reassure the fan, “All good, I am back tomorrow.”
That Said, Another Break Might Soon Be In Zee’s Future
At the time, Zee didn’t go into detail over why she was absent. However, she soon revealed the situation on Instagram. As she noted, “Have you ever done a sleep study?”
“I’ve been wired up for almost 24 hours for an overnight and 5 naps, an important test for my narcolepsy journey. I did one of these in 2001 but doctor needed a fresh one. So here I am. Wired up. I’ll see you all back on [Good Morning America] tomorrow!”
That said, Zee later revealed she was also planning a “social hiatus” on social media. As Hello! Magazine noted, she called for fans to ask her questions about the break.
One fan asked her, “How long is this hiatus? No post at all? Will miss you.” Zee replied, “Probably until 2025,” paired with a winky face emoji.
Zee was then asked if she would be off the following week from Good Morning America. She confirmed she was indeed “taking time with family.” She also made sure to thank Greg Dutra, Brittany Bell, and Dani Beckstrom for “helping [her] out.”
During this time, Zee also talked with fans about mental health. Some advice she shared was “identify it, say it out loud,” “consistent therapy, meditation and gratitude practice,” and to always remind oneself, “It’s temporary.”
