Mötley Crüe fans will have to wait a little longer for the rockers to take the stage after the band announced the cancellation of their upcoming festival performance.

The iconic ‘80s group was scheduled to co-headline the Boardwalk Rock festival in Ocean City, MD on May 17 with Def Leppard. However, the band revealed on Thursday, April 3 that they would no longer be performing as vocalist Vince Neil continues to recover from an undisclosed medical procedure.

In a statement shared to X (formerly Twitter), Mötley Crüe emphasized that Neil’s health is their top priority, saying, “Vince’s health comes first, and we fully support him in prioritizing his recovery.” They further apologized to fans who were looking forward to the show.

“Our friends Alice in Chains are confirmed to take our place on May 17 and we are immensely grateful to them for stepping up and bringing their awesome show to Boardwalk Rock. Thank you to all the Crüeheads for your continued support. We can’t wait for Vince to fully recuperate and to be back on stage again soon,” the statement concluded.

The cancellation follows the band’s earlier decision to reschedule their Las Vegas residency. Initially set for March 28 through April 19, the dates were moved to September and October to accommodate Neil’s recovery.
