Lucy Guo dethrones Taylor Swift as youngest female billionaire
Lucy Guo is now the youngest self-made female billionaire in the world, as per Forbes. She has replaced pop legend Taylor Swift, who claimed the title in 2023. Guo is best known as the co-founder of Scale AI, a data annotation company that supplies labeled data utilized for AI training. Scale AI was founded in 2016 by Guo and Alexandr Wang and operates from San Francisco.
Guo was born on October 14, 1994, which makes her 30 years old. Her Chinese immigrant parents brought her up in Fremont, California. She was interested in computer science and coding since she was young and enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University to pursue a degree in the former. However, she became the recipient of the Thiel Fellowship and a two-year $100,000 grant, which prompted her to drop out of college.
In the following years, Guo worked for tech organizations such as Facebook and Snapchat. While she was working for Quora, she became acquainted with Wang. Two years after the launch of Scale AI, Guo exited the company because of “differences in product vision and road map.” She told Forbes in an interview, “I think Alex has done a great job continuing to run the company.” However, neither she nor Wang elaborated on why they parted ways.
In 2022, Guo launched Passes, which is often described as an OnlyFans and Patreon competitor. She is quite active on social media and has nearly 80 thousand followers on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). In 2024, it was reported that she had acquired a $4.2 million house in West Hollywood.
