Explore the Cosmic Realm and Its Denizens in a New ‘DOOM: The Dark Ages’ Gameplay Trailer [Watch]

After giving us a bit of the story last week for DOOM: The Dark Ages with the focus on the Doom Slayer, Bethesda and id Software have dropped another trailer for the upcoming FPS, focusing on the vast Cosmic Realm.

Per PlayStation Blog, DOOM: The Dark Ages director Hugo Martin delved into the new area, referring to it as “a space [the DOOM franchise has] never been to but a world we’ve wanted to incorporate.” The Cosmic Realm has formed an unholy union with Hell, resulting in a new host of demonic monstrosities for the Slayer to defeat, including the new Cosmic Baron demon.

Described as attacking with relentless pressure, this twin-bladed demon is also able to use psionic attacks that can block your projectiles and sap your health. Luckily, you’ll have a window of opportunity to parry his attacks, which you can exploit to inflict your own punishment.

Next to the Cosmic Baron, you’ll also need to deal with a redesigned Cacodemon, which is described as a hybrid between the two dimensions. This time around, the Cacodemon has the ability to immobilize players his advanced shield attacks, as well as put his tentacles to good use with lethal strikes should you want to get up close and personal.

Luckily, you have another new toy to deal with them both in the Reaver Chainshot. Fire it quickly to unleash a light attack against a single foe, or hold down the trigger to charge its Chaos Sphere and unleash vicious long-range melee strikes that will punch holes in your demonic foes.

DOOM: The Dark Ages arrives May 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and the PC via Steam. The game will also be available for Xbox Game Pass.
