Andor Is One of the Greatest Star Wars Shows

Andor Is One of the Greatest Star Wars Shows

Among Star Wars enthusiasts, Andor has quickly become a massive hit.

Many fans immediately fell in love when Andor Season 1 aired in 2022. Season 2 received an extremely positive reception, leaving the audience wishing it wasn’t the show’s last season.

However, not every Star Wars show has been in demand.

In recent years, several new Star Wars shows have popped up.

Some of them, such as Obi-Wan, have been disliked by most fans.

In contrast, Andor has been regarded as one of the best Star Wars shows.

To me, it isn’t too surprising that the show has become so popular.

It’s a perfect watch for fans of the franchise. People who know little about this sci-fi universe can also enjoy it.

But there are plenty of other reasons why Andor has become so popular.

    Andor Has Compelling Characters

Every good show has lovable characters, or at least characters people can sympathize with.

Andor goes above and beyond in giving life to the characters in the show.

While we already know what happens to Cassian Andor at the end, the show details his backstory.

The show goes through events that shaped Cassian into who he is during the events of Rogue One.

It’s sad to see Cassian’s tragic past of losing his parents and sister at a young age. But it helps to understand how the loss inspired him to fight against the Empire.

Andor introduces new characters to the Star Wars universe.

Bix, Cassian’s love interest, is a complicated character. While she never expected to join the fight, she eventually learns to fight the evils of the Empire.

The show also brings back some familiar faces.

Mon Mothma gets her own storyline. The show examines her struggles as a senator and the internal conflict she faces as a Rebel ally.

In addition to telling the Rebel stories, Andor considers the Empire’s perspective.

For example, both seasons explore Syril Karn’s life. Syril worked for the Empire and lost his status after Cassian incited an incident on the planet Ferrix.

Since his fall, he is driven by a desire to prove himself again.

In his last moments, Syril almost realizes how he has contributed to the Empire’s horrific genocide on Ghorman. But when he sees Cassian, his desire for revenge overtakes him.

Even though we know that Syril has hate in his heart, the show still makes us sympathize with him.

Andor gives every character, even those like Syril, enough detail to help us understand them.

In addition to building up strong characters, good shows also need to have interesting stories to tell.

Another way Andor stands out from other Star Wars shows is the stories it covers.

Many people have pointed out that Andor is so politically relevant today. One of the common themes covered by the show’s arcs is resisting injustice.

Season 2 emphasizes this by showcasing the horrifying Ghorman genocide. It also cleverly ties this event to the Death Star, an essential part of Star Wars.

Some shows can feel very heavy-handed with political commentary. Andor brings humanity to politics without burdening the viewers.

The stakes of such stories reflect some of the realities that the world faces today. Fans point out how Andor can serve as a wake-up call.

Although Andor sometimes gets bleak, the stories also have significant lessons.

They may not always have a happy ending, but they leave an emotional impact that inspires us to reflect on our own beliefs.

At the end of the day, Andor returns to the key idea of Star Wars: Rebellions are built on hope. Even in dark times, the fight goes on.
