Philippou Brothers Update on ‘Talk to Me 2’ and Tease Another Original Horror Movie [Exclusive]

Philippou Brothers Update on ‘Talk to Me 2’ and Tease Another Original Horror Movie [Exclusive]

The directors of A24’s hit Talk to Me, brothers Danny and Michael Philippou are reteaming with A24 for their new nightmare Bring Her Back, which will release in theaters nationwide on May 30. But what’s next from the brothers in the wake of Bring Her Back?

And what’s the status on the announced sequel to Talk to Me?

The Philippou brothers sat down for a chat with Bloody Disgusting’s The Boo Crew Podcast that’ll be making its way online soon, and we’ve got an exclusive sneak peek for ya today.

The brothers explain that while Talk to Me 2 is still very much happening, their focus right now is on a documentary they’re almost finished with. From there, we may get another original horror movie from the duo before they return to the world of Talk to Me. At the moment, it sounds like they’re deciding between two wildly different concepts for the A24 sequel.

“We have two versions of the script for Talk to Me 2 that are focusing on two different sets of characters that are in two different places,” they explain. “I’m equally excited about both. There’s one scene in one of them that I think will be one of the best things I ever shoot.”

The Talk to Me sequel tease continues, “I think it’s so horrific. I’m like this is insane and I’ve already started talking to people. I’m like, how can we pull this off practically? So those conversations are happening, but it’s about stepping away from the world and then coming back into it super reinvigorated. So that’s why we didn’t do that next.”

In the meantime, the brothers are making a documentary that’s reportedly about the world of death match wrestling, which they say is “probably about 60-70 percent” finished.

“I’m writing another horror movie at the moment, which I adore so much. And it feels like it’s huge. So there’s that. And then I think would be Talk to Me 2,” they explain.

Don’t miss Bring Her Back in theaters on May 30.
