Star Wars Is Now Canon in the Zootopia Universe

In the latest teaser trailer for Zootopia 2, fans spotted a Star Wars Easter egg, confirming that one of Disney‘s biggest franchises is officially canon in the Zootopia universe. The long-awaited animated sequel is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 26.

Check out the Zootopia 2 teaser trailer below (watch more trailers):

What Star Wars Easter Egg was in the Zootopia teaser trailer?

The Zootopia 2 trailer includes a cool Darth Vader reference, featuring a zebra wearing a similar costume to the iconic villain while holding a red lightsaber. At the moment, it’s still unknown if the upcoming sequel will feature more references from Star Wars or Disney’s other major franchises.

“Detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the mammal metropolis upside down. To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before,” reads the official synopsis.

The movie is directed by Encanto filmmakers Jared Bush and Bryon Howard, with Bush also writing the screenplay. The cast includes Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps, Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde, Ke Huy Quan as Gary De’Snake, Fortune Feimster as Nibbles, Shakira as Gazelle, and Quinta Brunson as Dr. Fuzzby. It is produced by Yvett Merino. Since making its debut in 2016, the first installment has received a near-perfect Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In addition to its critical success, the movie was a box office hit with a worldwide gross of over $1 billion.
