Chicago Med Should Revisit Character Written Out Before Series Premiere

Chicago Med Should Revisit Character Written Out Before Series Premiere

Chicago Med originated as a backdoor pilot on Chicago Fire, much like how Chicago P.D. began a few years prior.

At the time, we were introduced to many new faces at Med, including one that was noticeably absent when Chicago Med Season 1 arrived the following fall.

Maybe now is the perfect time to revisit Dr. Hannah Tramble, an ER doctor played by actress Laurie Holden.

Yes, the same Laurie Holden who played Andrea Harrison so impressively on The Walking Dead.

After I watched her on the Chicago Med backdoor pilot, I was excited to see what she could do as a primary character in the new One Chicago show.

However, that excitement was short-lived when I later saw the announcement that Holden was leaving the project due to family reasons.

Laurie Holden Was Great As Dr. Hannah Tramble On Chicago Fire

Chicago Fire Season 3 Episode 19 began with Firehouse 51 responding to a mysterious call and an abundance of patients who needed attention due to respiratory distress.

Primary characters from Chicago Fire helped deliver those patients to Med, where we began seeing some familiar faces.

It’s worth noting that we had already met Dr. Will Halstead (played by Nick Gehlfuss), as he was the brother of Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) on Chicago P.D.

Likewise, we also knew Nurse April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) already, because she was friends with Chicago Fire‘s Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney).

This was also before Nurse Maggie Lockwood; Med had a ditzy lady working the front desk who added a comedic element.

But then we met Dr. Hannah Tramble, who was behind a refrigerator, successfully fixing it and demonstrating her multi-talented nature.

As patients began to arrive, Tramble took charge, helping to lead the team as they soon became overwhelmed with patients. She also had to help pivot everyone when an explosion happened in the waiting room.

Years later, many Chicago Fire and Chicago Med fans may have forgotten about Laurie Holden’s portrayal of Tramble, a strong female character who might have taken the show on a completely different trajectory.

The Return of Laurie Holden To Chicago Med Could Be a Treat For Fans

The One Chicago shows are undergoing numerous changes due to cost-cutting measures by NBC and the production company.

Giving something back to the fans would be a nice treat, and Chicago Med could do precisely that by bringing back Laurie Holden.

There is also an easy “in” for the show — during the backdoor pilot from Chicago Fire, Dr. Tramble saved the life of Kelly Severide.

Her no-nonsense approach to doing her job and her heroism during that poignant episode would be choice material to revisit, especially since Severide remains a main character on Chicago Fire.

Anyone who has seen Laurie Holden on television knows how well she holds her own, and I think revisiting her One Chicago character could help bring more eyes to the show.

Outside of The Walking Dead, Holden also played Renee on The Americans, Crimson Countess on The Boys, and Agent Olivia Murray on The Shield.

Many fans would likely want to re-watch Chicago Fire Season 3 episode 19, and it’s one of those episodes that still holds up well all these years later.

Here’s a clip to get the juices flowing and your mind racing.

We want to hear from you!!

Do you remember Laurie Holden from Chicago Fire? Would you also be excited to see her on Chicago Med?

Still here? You’re our kind of people.
