Paris Jackson Fires Back Over Michael Jackson Death Anniversary Backlash

Paris Jackson is firing back at her critics.

On Saturday, June 14, Paris, 27, took to her Instagram Stories to blast those who believe she’s wrong to perform with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra on the anniversary of her father Michael Jackson’s death.

“So, people are mad again,” she said in a series of video messages. “One of the tour dates I’m supposed to be going out on tour with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra happens to be June 25, which is a very negative anniversary for me in my life and my family.”

The singer is set to perform in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday, June 25 — the 16th anniversary of her famous father’s passing. Michael  died at age 50 from a heart attack caused by a drug overdose in 2009.

Paris Jackson Appeared to Wear Her Engagement Ring From Justin Long 3 Months Ago

Did Paris Jackson subtly announce her engagement three months ago? While Jackson, 26, formally confirmed on Friday, December 6, that boyfriend Justin Long (no relation to the actor of the same name) popped the question, she appeared to wear her diamond ring on that finger back in September. Michael Jackson’s daughter was seen sporting a […]

“So, what I guess I have to explain to these people is that when you’re first of three, and you’re not headlining these shows, you don’t pick what date you perform or what time you go on stage to perform, or what city you perform in,” Paris continued. “First of three also doesn’t get a tour bus. You get maybe a sprinter van, which I’ve done before when I’ve got a band with me. But I’m not going to have my band with me this time.”

She continued, “It’s just me and my acoustic guitar and my sound guy, who happens to be my fiancé [Justin Long]. So we’re gonna be in a soccer mom van.”

Paris also admitted she pitched herself to Incubus as their opening act, so she certainly doesn’t feel like she can complain about the tour’s dates. “This feels like [Incubus is] doing me a favor by bringing me out on tour. So [what], I’m gonna tell ’em, ’Sorry, guys, we can’t perform on this date?’”

Paris Jackson paid tribute to her late father, Michael Jackson, on stage while marking what would have been his 65th birthday. Paris, 25, spoke candidly about the King of Pop during her performance at Las Colonias Park Amphitheater in Colorado, subsequently sharing a video of the heartfelt moment via her Instagram Story on Tuesday, August […]

The tour comes months after Paris celebrated five years of sobriety. “Hi, I’m pk and I’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict,” Jackson, 26, wrote via Instagram back in January. “Today marks 5 years clean & sober from all drugs and alcohol. To say that I’m thankful would be a poor euphemism. Gratitude hardly scratches the surface.”

“It’s because I’m sober that I get to smile today,” Jackson also wrote. “I get to make music. I get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat. I get to feel heartbreak in all its glory. I get to grieve. I get to laugh. I get to dance. I get to trust. I feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm. I’ve found that life keeps happening regardless of whether I’m sober or not, but today I get to show up for it.”
