Max Deserves Better on Ginny & Georgia — Starting with Her Friends

Max Deserves Better on Ginny & Georgia — Starting with Her Friends

There’s something to be said about a series that raises the emotional stakes — and Ginny & Georgia Season 3 did just that, delivering beautifully woven arcs for most of Wellsbury’s residents.

But while Maxine Baker had some standout moments, much of her journey felt isolating. Her friend group — Abby, Norah, and Ginny — all but vanished when she needed them most.

Max can be overbearing, sure, but she consistently shows up for the people she loves. Look at Ginny, for example.

Even as Max watched them drift apart, she still made an effort to check in — all while silently questioning whether Georgia might actually be a murderer. That’s not exactly light friendship drama.

It’s hard to fault Ginny for much of her behavior this season — her world was spiraling in the wake of Georgia’s arrest and everything that followed.

But her cold comment to Max — that it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing they were growing apart — stung. Badly.

Ginny & Georgia Season 4 Needs to Address Max’s Trauma

And honestly, it felt like everyone just assumed Max was doing fine. Like she wasn’t dealing with anything of substance.

In reality, she was suffering in silence, pouring all her energy into making sure Marcus was okay and checking in on Ginny when no one else was.

Max has consistently sacrificed her own emotional well-being for the sake of her brother. That’s not new — we’ve seen it in previous seasons — but Ginny & Georgia Season 3 made it even more apparent.

Thankfully, the finale gave us a glimmer of hope as Marcus finally took steps to confront his alcohol addiction.

But recovery isn’t a straight path, and there’s every reason to believe Max will continue carrying the weight of it all while trying to repair their once-close sibling bond.

And as if all that weren’t enough, Max’s romantic life also imploded.

Max has a pattern of scaring people off with her intensity, but for a while, it seemed like she’d found someone who liked her just the way she was in Silver.

That illusion shattered when she discovered Silver had been secretly buying alcohol for Marcus.

Max Was Betrayed By More Than Her Friends

The betrayal cut deep, not just because of Marcus, but because Max thought she could finally let her guard down.

Then there’s Sophie. The show seems to be hinting at a potential reconnection between the exes, but it’s hard to root for that given how Sophie bailed when Max needed her most in Season 2.

Max deserves better — in her relationships, in her family, and especially in her friendships.

At this point, Bracia and Byron were more present for her in one episode than Abby, Norah, and Ginny were all season.

Let’s hope Ginny & Georgia Season 4 takes a long, hard look at Max’s support system and gives her the space, healing, and real friends she’s earned.

She’s been carrying everyone else for too long — it’s time someone showed up for her.

Maybe Max wouldn’t be “too much” if her friends weren’t giving her so little.

What are your thoughts on how Max’s friends and loved ones treated her throughout the season?

Do you think Season 4 should give her better friends?
