Forget Kong and Godzilla, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 is bringing a new titan to town.
The hit Monsterverse series returns on February 27, and it has some new treats for fans of this universe, particularly in the form of a new titan, Titan X.
Apple TV describes the titan in such strong terms that we cannot wait to see what havoc they wreak.
“Titan X isn’t just another monster; it’s a living cataclysm. When its massive bioluminescent form breaks the surface of the ocean, the world seems to hold its breath.
“In Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season two, Titan X stands at the center of the mystery — an ancient force emerging from the deep, its purpose uncertain, its power unmatched, its awe and terror in equal measure,” Apple says in an official statement.
A new titan? No one is more excited than me.
I can’t say I’m the biggest kaiju fan, as I only watched the movies while they were in season, but I’ve grown to love this universe, especially because of Legacy of Monsters.
I gave the show a chance since it’s from Apple TV, and it surprised me at every turn with how deeply it went into the lore without losing me.
However, the constant rehashing of Kong or Godzilla was beginning to tire me out, especially after the excellently done Godzilla Minus One.
A new titan is a promise worth tuning into. There is so much that can be explored with Titan X, giving this show — and the Monsterverse — a new lease on life.
Introducing Titan X allows Monarch to break free from the Godzilla/Kong cycle and expand the Monsterverse mythology — a crucial move after fans praised the originality of Godzilla Minus One.
We also get a sneak peek into what’s on the horizon through an action-packed trailer.
Titan X Shakes Up Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2
The trailer reveals that Lee Shaw is still alive, despite being left behind in Axis Mundi.
Meanwhile, a voiceover reveals that a major threat is coming, and it’s not Kong or Godzilla, the titans they’ve studied and understood.
We catch a quick glimpse of Titan X — big, blue, and fast. It is bigger than some of the biggest sea mammals known to man by miles.
Whoever said when you play with fire, you might get burned was not wrong, and Clan Rada & Co is about to find out.
Their “exploration” opened a rift into another dimension, and they’ve unleashed a new monster. That brings the count to three.
Two, they understand, and one they have never encountered. The consequences are bound to be dire.
We also get a glimpse of Young Lee in some unidentified location as a village is invaded by little monsters.
How does this experience fit into the general picture? Are these small monsters somehow related to Titan X, and could he be the key to defeating it?
Kurt and Wyatt Russell join Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett, and Anders Holm for another thrilling season of Monsterverse havoc.
Takehiro Hira, Amber Midthunder, Curtiss Cook, Cliff Curtis, Dominique Tipper, and Camilo Jiménez Varón also join the show this season.
The ten-episode second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters hits Apple TV on February 27.
