Thundercat, Mac Miller Ride Again On New Song

Thundercat, Mac Miller Ride Again On New Song

Thundercat again pays tribute to his late friend Mac Miller on “She Knows Too Much,” the latest song to emerge from his upcoming Brainfeeder album, Distracted. The song is accompanied by a heartwarming and hilarious animated video directed by Léa Esmaili and produced by Blinkink.

“She Knows Too Much” finds Thundercat in a familiar predicament: being involved with a girl who doesn’t love him for who he is. Thankfully, Miller is there as a wingman both in person and in rhyme: “You can talk about the universe and energy but all you really want is a celebrity.”

The song dates back nearly a decade from sessions with the two artists and keyboardist Taylor Grives, but it was never completed or officially released in the wake of Miller’s 2018 death. Thundercat revived the idea with producer Greg Kurstin and completed it for inclusion on Distracted, due April 4.

“I’m grateful to have spent my time on this planet with Mac,” Thundercat says. “What an artist, what a spirit, what a joy to have experienced.”

Distracted was led by first single “I Did This to Myself” featuring Lil Yachty. Other high profile guests include A$AP Rocky, WILLOW, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and Channel Tres.

Thundercat will tour Europe and the U.K. in March and will announce additional North American dates soon.
