The Fat Nasty
Joy comes
Joy comes in the mornin’
Now let’s begin
Serotonin
Girl let’s get into debaucherous sin
Collide
Raise up you glass
Forget the pain
Drink in your drugs
Man let’s get insane
Tonight
I’m praying the lack of sobriety
Softens the harshest blows
My head needs a healing
After the hangover takes a hold
I need the light
(need the light)
Been baptized in the darkest waters
I need the light
(need the light)
It’s a beautiful vibration
Ladies and gentlemen
do the fat nasty
Ladies and gentlemen
do the fat nasty
I want to feel it
I want to feel it
I’ve been baptized in the well
The spirits have got me
Life of the party
Can’t you see
I’m the last man standing
I’m praying the lack of sobriety
Softens the harshest blows
My head needs a healing
After the hangover takes a hold
I need the light
(need the light)
Been baptized in the darkest waters
I need the light
(need the light)
It’s a beautiful vibration
Ladies and gentlemen
Do the fat nasty
Ladies and gentlemen
Do the fat nasty
Don’t stop this beautiful
vibration in the air
Don’t stop this beautiful
vibration baby
Joy, joy
Joy, joy
Shuffled off this mortal coil
To the light
Shuffled off this mortal coil
To the light
You know that I
Shuffled off this mortal coil
To the light
Shuffled off this mortal coil
To the light
You know that I..
Congratulations are in order! You just signed to Aspire to Empire Records!! How did this feel like the right move for you?!
We trust the people that run the label, they have been nothing but helpful to us! And the fact that they would want to even work with a band like us means a lot!
What were all the events that had to happen that finally led to your new music The Fat Nasty?
When the lockdowns first started, our singer started drinking a lot, and he woke up one day so hungover that he felt like he was going to die. He started writing tongue and cheek lyrics, trying to make light of a horrible day.
Talk to us about the narrative of this music and why it’s so important?
We wouldn’t say the narrative in this song in particular is important. We do not take ourselves too seriously on this track, and we have a lot of self deprecating and fun lyrics. The chorus literally is, “Ladies and Gentlemen, Do The Fat Nasty”, which is a fun throw away line. Importance of lyrics depends on the song and vibe.
What is the importance of storytelling with your music?
Sometimes we like to write about serious topics, and situations we have been through, and we use inspiration from everything from Shakespeare to the bible. Ultimately we just want to convey freedom of expression on any topic.
We love telling stories whether they’re true or fiction. How do you make sure your beginning, middle and end feel like it flows into each other with purpose?
We are students of Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and dudes like Keith Buckely from Every Time I Die, and Cedric Bixler from The Mars Volta. After obsessing over their lyrical content for years, you begin to see how they tell stories. We just try to tell our stories in the most unique way possible, using a lot of mystery. We feel too many bands don’t leave a lot of room for mystery in their songs anymore.
What is the overall theme of your new music?
We don’t stick to one theme, but our most common are probably Coming of Age, Statements of Discontent, Friendship, Heartbreak, and Death.
What is your special signature that you leave on your music?
I would say musical breakdowns are our signature. We are lovers of heavy music with breakdowns, especially live!
Leave us with a significant lyric from your latest music!
“Joy comes in the morning”

NYGMA IS BASED OUT OF DALLAS, TX. BURNIE, COLTEN, & CALEB HAVE BEEN PLAYING MUSIC TOGETHER FOR CLOSE TO 16 YEARS. THEY’VE BEEN IN OTHER BANDS TOGETHER AS WELL, IN ADDITION TO TOURING THE US MULTIPLE TIMES. THE 3 OF THEM MET THROUGH LOCAL CHURCH FUNCTIONS IN MANSFIELD, OH. BURNIE MET DANIEL & CHRIS THROUGH THE LOCAL SCENE IN DENTON, TX.
NYGMA STARTED AS AN OUTLET THAT WASN’T FAITH BASED. EVEN THOUGH YOU HEAR THEM TOUCH ON THEIR FAITH, BACKGROUNDS, & BELIEFS IN LYRICS. THEY GREW UP IN CHURCH/SHUL, PARENTS ARE PASTORS, ETC. WITH NYGMA, WE WANTED TO EXPLORE OTHER AVENUES AND THAT’S WHERE WE ARE.
