Mark Hamill has had a diverse acting career, from the incredibly popular Luke Skywalker of the Star Wars saga to voicing iconic villains like the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, and Firelord Ozai in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Although he’s famously said he won’t voice the Joker again following Kevin Conroy’s recent passing, it looks like Hamill will be returning to another beloved animated series to voice one of his iconic characters.
According to Popverse, Mark Hamill has confirmed that he will voice his character Skips in an upcoming Regular Show revival. Regular Show is an animated Cartoon Network series about a group of groundskeepers at a park. The show ran from 2010 to 2017 and its revival has recently been greenlit by Warner Bros. Animation. Hamill’s immortal yeti character Skips, named after the fact that he skips instead of walking, is a fan-favorite of the series.
The news of the upcoming revival of the beloved animated show was announced at Annecy in June of this year, as reported by Variety. Hamill confirmed his involvement in the Regular Show revival when asked about the animated series at a panel at the Fan Expo Chicago. The revival will also see the return of original creator J.G. Quintel, who also voices Mordecai the blue jay.
“Here’s an interesting bit of news. I just heard this last week. They want to do 44 more episodes of Regular Show.”
“William Salyers DMed me. He said, ‘Did you hear the news? I’m just worried, are you in or not?’ As if I’ve somehow outgrown them. I wrote him back saying, ‘There is only one Skips, and he’s very much looking forward to meeting with his old pal Rigby.’ He sent me a gif of somebody dancing with joy.”
Mark Hamill Continues His Legacy In Voice Acting
Although the actor is mainly recognized for his on-screen performances in the Star Wars franchise, Hamill has a major presence in the voice-acting community. He continues to expand his portfolio by voicing a bear named Thorn in the new animated film The Wild Robot. Some of his previous voice acting roles include Art Rosenbaum in Amazon’s Invincible, Granduncle in Hayao Miyazaki’s latest film,The Boy and the Heron, and Chucky in Child’s Play (2019). Hamill has voiced various characters in shows like Adventure Time, Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?, and Robot Chicken. The multi-talented actor also voices multiple characters in Regular Show, so we assume he’ll probably do the same in the new series.
Up next, Hamill is slated to voice King Herod in The King of Kings and the Flying Dutchman in The Spongebob Movie: Search for Squarepants.
Regular Show is streaming on Cartoon Network, Hulu, Max, and Disney+.
