Recently, a winner with a chronic illness proved in a big way that the things you deal with in life don’t have to stop you from realizing your dreams, and this recent player is a shining example of that.
Jeopardy! Welcomes People From All Walks Of Life To Compete
One of the many great things about Jeopardy! is, because it’s a game show that relies on brain power rather than brawn, contestants don’t have to be in prime physical condition to compete, they just have to flex their brains and know a lot of facts and trivia.
Because of this, people from all age ranges come on the stage to test their knowledge against the other competitors on the show. It’s one of the few platforms out there that doesn’t require players to be in peak physical condition, because, as long as they have their mental faculties, everyone has a fair shot.
Game Show Contestant With Chronic Illness Fulfills Big Dream
Based on recent Jeopardy! scenes, a contestant named Harvey Silikovitz competed on the popular program. He first auditioned for the show all the way back in 2001, and he recently fulfilled his dream of making it onto the game show stage.
Along with being an attorney, Harvey Silikovitz also has Parkinson’s Disease, and he is a huge inspiration for people out there watching who are dealing with chronic conditions of their own. Not only did Silikovitz finish with an impressive money total of $23,200, but, he also snapped returning player Laura Faddah’s eight-game winning streak.
Jeopardy! Winner Has Inspiring Words To Share
Not only did recent player Harvey Silikovitz put together some impressive gameplay, but, he also had some inspiring words to share along the way, which only carry that much more weight when you consider everything that he has been dealing with.
This Jeopardy! player went on to say: “It’s been a longtime dream of mine to get here. In 2019, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, but I continued chasing the dream, and now here I am.”
Harvey went on to say: “I wouldn’t recommend that as a preparation strategy for doing well on the show. But after living with Parkinson’s for five and a half years, it’s no longer just about wanting to do well for myself. I would like to give hope and inspiration to the people who are living with chronic illnesses.”
This was an impressive Jeopardy! showing from Harvey Silikovitz. However, even more than his winning total, his words are a major inspiration for a lot of viewers. It may have taken him many years to get on the game show, and he has certainly dealt with his share of challenges and setbacks, but, it has clearly not stopped him from fulfilling his goal, and when he had the chance to, he certainly made the most of it.
