Selena Gomez’s “girl crush” Bella Hadid made a surprise move on Instagram: sharing her take on news that Gomez may be dating her sister Gigi Hadid’s ex-boyfriend Zayn Malik.
Celebrity news fan account PopFaction pointed out that Bella liked a post where a Selena Gomez fan account pointed out that Zayn Malik’s mother started following Gomez on Instagram. Malik and Gomez were seen “kissing” in New York City at the end of last month, sparking dating rumors. Malik and Bella’s older sister Gigi share two-year-old daughter Khai, and Gomez is the first person Malik has publicly been linked romantically to since he and Gigi split for good in October 2021.

For her part, Gigi has been linked to Leonardo DiCaprio since the fall; a source told Entertainment Tonight on April 3 that Bella is supportive of Gigi seeing him. “Yolanda [Hadid, Bella and Gigi’s mom] and Bella know Gigi is capable of making her own healthy decisions and they’re supportive of her,” the source said. “Gigi’s main priority is her baby girl. Her daughter is always top of mind and at the forefront of everything in her life.”
A source told Us Weekly on March 24 that Gigi is fine with Gomez and Malik dating, too. “Gigi has no problem whatsoever with Zayn dating,” the source told Us. “As long as he is happy and stable and continues to be a good coparent to [their daughter] Khai, she’s fine with whoever he goes out with.”(Bella was reported to have helped Gigi through her breakup with Malik in December 2021: “Gigi is done with Zayn,” a source told People then. “She’s a really private person, so Bella has really been there to support her. It’s been tough on all of them because they’re all so close.”)
Bella and Gomez both dated The Weeknd in the past; neither are involved with him now. While Gomez and Bella’s relationship has had more dramatic moments in the past (particularly when Gomez was dating The Weeknd in 2017), the women have generally been supportive of each other recently.
Gomez follows Bella on Instagram. Although Bella doesn’t follow Gomez currently, the model has shown support to Gomez prior to this, liking photos of her and even following Gomez’s Instagram in 2020.
In late February, Gomez shared a tribute to Bella on TikTok and Instagram Stories, participating in TikTok’s “I am Bella Hadid” trend. “I wish I was as pretty as Bella Hadid,” Gomez captioned one post. In a second video, she said jokingly, “My name is Selena Gomez. See? It doesn’t even sound sexy.” In a third Instagarm Story, Gomez called Hadid her “girl crush.”
