“Meanwhile, in another universe…” the synopsis begins, “In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines.”

“The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.”

The screenplay, credited to Claire Parker and director SJ Clarkson, hints at a departure from the initial plot leaks. Notably absent are references to a pregnant Mary Parker and Ezekiel’s plans for Peter Parker. This change in direction may reflect the new creative team’s influence, as earlier drafts were penned by different writers.

“Madame Web” is part of Sony’s expanding Spider-Man Universe, which includes films like “Venom” and upcoming films like “Kraven the Hunter.” With its unique approach and intriguing narrative, “Madame Web” promises to be more than just a superhero film, blending elements of suspense and thriller genres.
