Mick Garris, the Master of Horror creator himself, understands the genre of fear. Having directed many frightful classics, curated some of the best scary television ever, and having interviewed every horror hero in the business via his Post Mortem podcast, Garris is more than a horror filmmaker. He’s an expert. Now The Stand miniseries director has shared a recommendation via Twitter which has caught our attention.
The recent Shudder outing Deadstream took indie horror by storm last year. Directed, written, produced and edited by husband/wife duo Joseph and Vanessa Winter, this inventive found footage fiasco made a definite splash upon its SXSW premiere.
Deadstream stars Joseph Winter as an unpopular content creator who is doing everything possible to climb back into the Internet’s good graces. And he’s desperately attempting to revive his career by spending the night live-streaming his experience in an infamous haunted house.
Dread Central’s editor-in-chief Mary Beth McAndrews gave Deadstream four stars, saying it “proves that found footage is alive, well, and still a wholly original sub-genre perfect for dissecting our new digital landscape.” Check out the trailer forit right here.
