I had a VERY good time

Your favorite A24 movies aren’t just finding new homes now that the Showtime Anytime app has shuttered its doors. They are also finding new fans as they spread out among the more popular streamers. This is possibly why is now killing it on the Netflix Charts. If you’ve forgotten the movie that kicked off an ongoing trilogy for A24, then allow me to refresh your memory.

In the film,

“In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.”

X  was written and directed by Ti West. The movie stars Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, Martin Henderson, Brittany Snow, Owen Campbell, Stephen Ure, and Scott Mescudi (a.k.a Kid Cudi).

While the movie that kicked off Ti West’s trilogy is wildly popular among horror fans, most people seem to be here for the cast. It’s one of the movies where even the supporting actors get recognition from Twitter.

See what Twitter is saying

Brittany Snow said, “Fuck all y’all. I’m going all out for X.” And she did. She now ranks next to Helen Shivers as the friend who kicked ass. #X pic.twitter.com/lHUNiic5xd

#X really gonna give it to you. A fab contained horror which strips the slasher back to basics. The theme of youth keeps the plot on course. Brittany Snow and Kid Cudi are highlights but the whole cast is brilliant! A24 proving again they are making films exactly as I like ’em!

Just before the carnage begins — Brittany Snow and Kid Cudi performed a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide. So innocent, it almost felt oop but it didn’t. That how crazy #X was!

Who would of thought Kid Cudi and Brittany Snow would make the perfect team. #X

Man. Ti West is about to be on everyone’s gimme list for their next studio project. And he deserves it.

Mia Goth in #X is on some other shit. 🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/T9NSLztv0j

#X is a surprise. A creepy, sexy horror B movie by way of A24, Ti West knows how to put together a slasher and give it the vibe of the era it’s portraying. Mia Goth is such a presence, and Jenna Ortega is proving to be quite the scream queen. I had a VERY good time watching this.

While X is the first movie in the series, it was followed by a prequel film, Pearl. The franchise is set to end this year with the release of MaXXXine. It will serve as a direct sequel to X and follows Maxine as she continues chasing her dreams of becoming an actress. Mia Goth will be joined by Michelle Monaghan, Giancarlo Esposito, Moses Sumney, and Kevin Bacon for this final installment. The movie is set in 1980s Los Angeles. Watch the teaser trailer below.

Are you discovering X now that it is on Netflix? Or are you a fan who is rewatching it? Let me know either way at @misssharai.
