Interview with D. Wolfin, Author of Immortal Templar

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Immortal Templar?

There were actually two different sources of inspiration for this story. The first was an idea I had for a book about a person who was a god, reborn into the realm of the living, without realizing what he was. I spent a long time fleshing out this thought and writing down plot points, even planning the great ball that is a turning point in the book. This story is set in the same universe as Immortal Templar, but it lacked the world building behind it that I wanted, hence why I started with this series instead.

The second inspiration was a collective experience of all the different genres of novels I have read, and what I enjoy. Rather than trying to mimic a specific style or genre, I wanted to create something that encompassed all of what is uniquely me, this time more so than ever before.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Immortal Templar, what would they be?

I don’t have a specific theme song in mind, but it would definitely be some sort of violin orchestra.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Fantasy and science fiction, through and through. This includes subgenres such as litrpg, but I can be picky from title to title. It is definitely my favorite genre to write. I couldn’t even imagine myself writing a romance or thriller.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Ironically, none! I spend so much time working on my books, work, studies, and another side project/learning that I simply don’t have the time to look up novels to read, let alone maintain a TBR list.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I want to just go with the stereotypical answer that I like them all, but my favorite ones to write have been Senna’s softer moments towards Thomas, especially when she unhesitatingly expresses her care toward him.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

None quirky per se. I tend to alternate between writing on my computer and laptop depending on my mood though, each having their advantages. With my pc, I have a lot of screen real estate for displaying my notes, plans etc. My laptop on the other hand is very convenient for lying on the couch or taking to a cafe or public library.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

My philosophy is to focus on being constructive, not destructive. Regardless of political, societal beliefs, etc, to treat other human beings with respect and kindness. Even if we hold differing opinions, we should never partake in conduct that is destructive.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
