Interview with Gemma Cates, Author of Dragons Do It Nerdier

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Dragons Do It Nerdier?

I love reading romances with nerdy-hot heroes, so I knew that my Dragons Shifters Do It series had to have one!

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I used to read ALL the paranormal romance. Now I read ALL the sports romance. Maybe there are hockey-playing dragons in my future?

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I’m reading fun, funny, warm Christmas stories right now. I’m all about light, love, and laughter around this time of year.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I always have two favorites: the beginning, when I’m first meeting my characters and they’re first meeting each other, and the end, because as much as I love my characters, I want them sipping bubbly, happily ever after together!

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I’m not a morning person, and I make myself write in the mornings. I’ve done the math, and the math says I write more words when I’m barely awake and can’t see straight. Maybe it’s math, maybe it’s magic?

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Productive longevity. Keep writing the stories I love.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

That the world can be a warm place with love in it.
