Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman is finally getting a second season. Of course, it hasn’t been that long since the first season premiered on Netflix. But, the wait for an official season two did feel like a long wait. Fans were concerned that Netflix would cancel the series. So now that Mason Alexander Park confirmed the beginning of production, fans are resting easy.

Park played Desire in the first season of The Sandman. Apparently, the reason that the term “season two” hasn’t been passed around too much is because Netflix isn’t going to use that term as part of the title. So it is likely that The Sandman will have a second title similar to the comics.

“Netflix has not gone on record calling it a season 2 on purpose.” Park said “And so from now on and in the future and in perpetuity, until the end of universe, will not refer to it as season 2. Until, you know, we know what it is. There is more Sandman coming in a really cool way, and it can take many forms. We’re starting shooting in the summer, and we’re gonna tackle the next huge chunk of stories in however long that might take. And I am really excited to share the format of what that might be with everybody, eventually.“

The synopsis for the first season of The Sandman went like this:

A wizard attempting to capture Death to bargain for eternal life traps her younger brother, Dream, instead. Fearful for his safety, the wizard kept him imprisoned in a glass bottle for decades. After his escape, Dream (also known as Morpheus) goes on a quest for his lost objects of power.
