‘Mortal Kombat 1’ Trailer Brings Us to a New Age

Director, Simon McQuoid is set to return to direct the Mortal Kombat sequel. The first film introduced us to quite a few characters but in a blaring oversite a lot of characters were missing and well… so was the Mortal Kombat tournament. But, hopefully, we will see the tournament this time around. One thing we will certainly see in this iteration is Karl Urban as Johnny Cage.

That’s right y’all! Urban is beloved by his fandom. I mean heck, folks still want a sequel to the long-defunct Judge Dredd. So, it is quite exciting to hear that the star of The Boys is joining the cast as the self-involved, martial arts movie star, Cage.

However Urban approaches it, he will undoubtedly do his homework and wow us all in the role.

The synopsis for the first Mortal Kombat went like this:

Hunted by the fearsome warrior Sub-Zero, MMA fighter Cole Young finds sanctuary at the temple of Lord Raiden. Training with experienced fighters Liu Kang, Kung Lao and the rogue mercenary Kano, Cole prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions to take on the enemies from Outworld in a high-stakes battle for the universe.

Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight) is set to write this entry into the franchise. We also expect to see a lot of the same characters coming back. No word on if the main character that was created for the movie separately from the game will return. If you recall he was a point of contention for a lot of the internet’s discourse.

Urban is a great choice for just about anything. He is a one size fits all fit for these kinds of roles. It will be great to see what kind of conceited bits of personality that he brings to the role.

Are you excited about Urban joining the Mortal Kombat sequelas Johnny Cage? Let us know in the comments section.
