HBO and HBO Max’s video game adaptation The Last of Us is proving to be a huge hit!

Sunday’s second episode pulled in 5.7 million viewers – the largest week two audience growth for an HBO Original drama series in the network’s history!

This number represents 20%-40% of the show’s total gross audience per episode, with the premiere episode currently up to 18 million total viewers!

This is incredibly close to the viewership that AMC’s The Walking Dead posted in its debut season, with numbers ranging from 4.71 million to a high of 5.97 million.

With numbers like this, it’s highly likely that we’ll be getting a second season!

HBO’s new series The Last of Us is set 20 years after civilization has been destroyed.

This gripping drama follows Joel (Pedro Pascal of The Mandalorian) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey of Game of Thrones) as they embark on a dangerous mission to smuggle Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone. Along the way, they must rely on each other for survival as they traverse across the U.S.

Joining the cast is Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) as Tommy, Joel’s brother, along with Storm Reid, Anna Torv, Jeffrey Pierce, Nick Offerman, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett and Con O’Neil.

Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) developed the series for HBO, with Neil Druckmann on board as executive producer.
