Hocus Pocus 2 magically arrived on Disney+ over the weekend and it was a popular premiere to put it lightly. The sequel to the 1993 Halloween classic brings back the Sanderson Sisters once again to shake things up in Salem. Within the first three days of the film arriving on the streaming giant, it had already broken records for the most-watched movie premiere.
The synopsis for Hocus Pocus 2 goes like this:
“It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters who were executed for practicing witchcraft, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to figure out how to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before midnight on All Hallow’s Eve.”
The sequel brought back Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Doug Jones as the Sanderson Sisters and even Butcher Billy.
The overall reception has been very positive with fans loving the film and in some cases some saying that the sequel is even better than the original. I don’t think it is quite better than the original personally, but it is a heck load of fun.
Hocus Pocus 2 is now streaming exclusively on Disney+.
