Fashion house Gucci and late director Stanley Kubrick, two pop culture icons, have collaborated on a very “exquisite” pictorial campaign. It is a collection of shots that feature models seamlessly superimposed into some of Kubrick’s classic films. Most notably The Shining.

The inspiration comes from Italian fashion designer Alessandro Michele who says he has always been charmed by cinema and the powerful human stories that come from them.

“I’ve always imagined my collections as films able to convey a cinematography of the present: a score of stories, eclectic and dissonant, that can sacralize the human and its metamorphic ability,” he added.

The portfolio doesn’t just include The Shining. Other films include 2001: A Space Odyssey and A Clockwork Orange.

Here we see a model sporting space boots, a green gown, and black lace leggings posing in the corridors of a space station while Dave goes about his business.

Here we get the punks from A Clockwork Orange drinking milk plus, some sort of drug-infused beverage served in the film’s futuristic time.

But what really grabs our interest is this sporty number unironically standing in front of the famous green bathtub in room 237 at the Overlook Hotel from Kubrick’s classic The Shining. Although Stephen King wasn’t impressed with Kubrick’s adaptation, some people think this film is one of the scariest in history.

Other Kubrick films honored by the fashion house include the Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman opus Eyes Wide Shut, and the period piece Barry Lyndon.

The fashion world sometimes gets their muses from horror movies. Back in 2019 designer, Jeremy Scott took his inspiration from scary movies for his Moschino collection. The menswear and resort wear exhibition appropriated some classic characters for the print editorials.
