Muichiro escapes the water prison, but the needles have weakened him. More fish-like demons appear to attack, and Muichiro starts thinking about his past. His father was a woodcutter, and he would help him out on his job. He loses his parents after his mother dies from an illness, and his father dies trying to get medicinal herbs in the middle of a storm. Muichiro’s twin brother, Yuichiro, becomes pessimistic and cold toward him.

Amane visits them, telling them about their ancestors, who were swordsmen. Muichiro tells Yuichiro they should become swordsmen, but Yuichiro continues being pessimistic, saying only the chosen ones can help others. One summer night, a demon attacked their house and cut off Yuichiro’s arm. A violent rage awakens in Muichiro, and he defeats the demon. While Yuichiro’s dying, Muichiro sees him praying, hoping for Muichiro to be saved.

At present, marks show up on Muichiro’s face, giving him strength. Muichiro heads to where Haganezuka and Kanamori are to rescue them. Gyokko starts using a different Blood Demon Art, but Muichiro easily slashes it.
