Harley Quinn: James Gunn Offers Update on Show’s Future

After officially announcing DC Studios’ first slate of movies and series, co-CEO James Gunn has revealed another update regarding the future of one of HBO Max’s popular animated DC series. During the press event (via Comic Book), Gunn was asked about the Harley Quinn series’ place under DC Studios. He confirmed that they’re planning to keep moving forward with the fan-favorite comedy, with co-CEO Peter Safran even describing the Kaley Cuoco-led show as “fantastic.”

This is definitely a reassuring update for fans, who have been curious and worried about Harley Quinn‘s future since HBO Max started canceling a number of its original shows these past months. Ahead of its highly-anticipated fourth season return, the adult-animated DC series will debut a standalone special episode titled “Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special,” this coming February 9.

Harley Quinn Season 4 will feature a new showrunner and executive producer in the form of Sarah Peters (Master of None), who will be taking over from Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker.

The voice cast includes Big Bang Theory‘s Kaley Cuoco as the titular villain, Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, Alan Tudyk as Clayface and the Joker, Ron Funches as King Shark, JB Smoove as Frank the Plant, Giancarlo Esposito as Lex Luthor, Natalie Morales as Lois Lane, Jim Rash as Riddler, Diedrich Bader as Batman, Tony Hale as Dr. Psycho, Chris Meloni as Commissioner Gordon, Rahul Kohli as Scarecrow, Sanaa Lathan as Catwoman, Vanessa Marshall as Wonder Woman, and Jacob Tremblay as Robin.

Based on the DC character created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, Harley Quinn is created and executive produced by Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey. In addition to starring, Cuoco is also an executive producer through her Yes, Norman Productions.
