Bruce Springsteen Postpones September 2023 Concerts Due to Peptic Ulcer

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band have postponed the remainder of their September 2023 tour dates, beginning with tomorrow’s (September 6) show at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York. Springsteen is currently undergoing treatment for peptic ulcer disease; according to an announcement shared to the band’s social media, the postponement is “the decision of his medical advisors.” The post attributed a statement to Springsteen himself:

Over here on E Street, we’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows. First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support. We’ve been having a blast at our US shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon.

    Love and God bless all,
    Bruce

For now, Springsteen has postponed concerts in Baltimore (September 9), Pittsburgh (September 12 and 14), Uncasville, Connecticut (September 16), Albany (September 19), Columbus (September 21), and Washington, D.C. (September 29). For now, he has no shows scheduled for October, and the band is set to return to the stage on Friday, November 3, at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena.

In March, Springsteen canceled several shows “due to illness” without disclosing who was ill. Later that month, he was awarded a National Medals of Arts by President Joe Biden. In April, New Jersey’s governor, Phil Murphy, announced that September 23 will now officially be known as Bruce Springsteen Day.
