Summoning the spirit of the early 2000’s hardcore, Dallas, Texas band Nygma have established a reputation of surrealistic lyrics, unorthodox guitar melodies and unpredictable shifts in tempo and rhythm.
Burnie, Colten, & Caleb have been playing music together for close to 16 years, they’ve been in other bands together as well as touring the US multiple times. The 3 of them met through local church functions in Mansfield, OH.
Burnie met Chris through the Local scene in Denton, TX. The 4 have been playing together for close to 4 years now. NYGMA started as an outlet that is not faith based even though you hear them touch on their faith, backgrounds, and beliefs in lyrics.
They grew up in Church, parents are pastors, Etc.
With NYGMA, we wanted to explore other avenues and that’s where we are now.
Please describe to our audience how you came about on the music scene and what is the biggest difference between your first piece of music to your latest!
We were always aware of the music scene around us, but when we first started our band, we were not welcomed into it at first. It took many years of begging for shows and hard work to finally get to the point we are at now.
The biggest difference between our first piece of music and the latest is, our production is light years better now, the songs are better now, and heavier!
What are you doing to push a positive message as the year comes to an end and there is a new beginning coming up with this new year?
We just keep releasing music. We are trying to release new music every month until our new album is finished. And hopefully our lyrics and demeanor delivers positive vibes at the very least.
Are there any rituals you have developed over the years that are helpful for any upcoming changes happening?
I don’t think we do. At least we don’t have a group ritual. Each individual may have their own rituals they keep to themselves.
Could you talk about a success that happened this year that you would attribute to all your hard work?
Hard work and dedication is a major key. We are so determined to be successful, we grind ourselves down to bone, and we miss out on many hours of sleep. We must also give a shout out to our management that we signed to this year “B Squared management” They have certainly given us a major boost in exposure which has been a major help to us.
Could you talk about an obstacle that you persevered through?
We have struggled to maintain a consistent bass player over the years, so we have been compensating with bass tracks live, and friends to fill in that spot on occasion. If you are reading this, and want to join our band, hit us up!
How do you think these experiences have helped you shape your career and approach your music?
All experiences, good or bad, strengthen our bond as a band. And when we approach music now, we all contribute when before there was only one primary writer.
How do you continue to develop your community of fans over the years?
We make connections to friends and fans every show we play. This is why every show counts no matter how big or small. We also connect with new people through our social media platforms.
Thank you for sharing all your music with us! Can you give us any exclusive on more
music coming up?
New songs every month! New album in 2023!
Socials for everything happening NEXT!
