Muizenberg/Cape Town, Western Province, South Africa — The Jazz Catz are two super-talented individuals, Boris Guderjahn, born in Germany, and Ryan Sackanary, Born in Cape Town, South Africa. The band has been producing hit after hit since 2017 and doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. With their first album, “Timeless”, they crossed bridges from contemporary to classical music. And with their latest album, “Con Fusion” they have experimented with different and complex sounds, taking the listener on an adventure. Boris Guderjahn and Ryan Sackanary have worked tirelessly and unveiled their enthralling new single “Rat Race” on the fourth of May, 2022, which is already on its way to becoming a major hit. With a spectacular debut and multiple hits under their belt, they were nominated for Mzantsi Jazz Award in 2 categories: Best contemporary Jazz album and Best international Jazz Collaboration. Their immense critical acclaim and popularity amongst listeners is a testament to their distinct sound, which takes the listener on a journey of feeling pure joy. Their sound is a fusion mix of a bit of Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and Weather report combined with pop and classical elements, and their newest single has equal parts of their “signature” sound and equal parts new and surprising elements to it.
“Their concept is to create music that the listener can relate to. Their music comes from the heart and soul, maybe a new definition of Soul music, which is easy to digest,” said the artists regarding their music.

Now, the latest album (dropped August 23rd) ‘Hymn for Africa’ has 9 original tracks. All of these tracks are instrumentals and the whole album takes everyone on a groovy ride. It’s no wonder that they’ve been nominated for 3 Mzantsi Jazz Awards this year (2022) for the album. Including, ‘Best Contemporary Jazz Album’, ‘Best Jazz Album’, and ‘Best International Jazz Collaboration’.
