New York, New York —September 13th, 2023 – Solemn Pledge, the dynamic rock music duo of Maria Genevieve Elia and Michael Justin Lee, are the most prominent new creators in the Rock Opera genre. In their latest release, they employ a variety of musical styles to tell the powerful and true story of Joan of Arc, a seventeen year old farm girl who, acting under the divine guidance of the Archangel Michael, Saint Margaret and Saint Catherine, transcended gender roles to lead armed forces to rescue France from English conquest.

Despite her age and having had no military training, she became one of France’s greatest military heroes. Her eventual capture and martyrdom has made her a hero of the global feminist movement and a symbol of freedom and independence. Joan of Arc has been canonized by the Roman Catholic Church and has been declared one of the Patron Saints of France.

Solemn Pledge demonstrates truly extraordinary versatility in employing classical music to start their album. In their first song, “Farewell Home,” Solemn Pledge uses evocative original lyrics over the gentle start of Antonín Dvořák’s New World Symphony to briefly convey Joan of Arc’s tearful goodbye to her parents, whom she would never see again.

The album then kicks into high gear with, “To Free France,” “We Will Prevail” and “Let Come What May” to tell of her military success before concluding as gently as it began with “Will You Remember Me?” which communicates her hope that she succeeded in her divine mission just before her martyrdom.

All songs were brilliantly performed by Maria Genevieve Elia and masterfully written and produced by Michael Justin Lee. The duo’s previous six Rock opera albums have been very gratifyingly embraced by the public.
