Wednesday is an American supernatural comedy series based on the character Wednesday Addams by Charles Addams. The story revolves around Wednesday Addams, who attempts to solve a monster mystery at her new school. It was released on Netflix on November 23 to predominantly positive reviews from critics, who praised Ortega’s performance.
Within three weeks of release, it became the second-most watched English-language Netflix series and received two Golden Globe nominations. In January 2023, the series was renewed for a second season.
Fans around the world are waiting for season 2, but it looks like the wait for season 2 might be even longer than originally anticipated.
In April 2023, Ortega shared that prep for season 2 had officially started. We don’t know exactly where in the process they are, but with the writer’s room getting put together in March 2023, it’s likely that they are still mapping out the season and getting the episodes sorted.
As of late May 2023, production has not started on the new season yet. That’s unfortunate for those hoping to see season 2 soon. It’s going to be a while before the new season premieres.
The first season came out at the end of 2022, so it would make sense why fans think Wednesday season 2 could be released in 2023. Netflix has not confirmed that season 2 won’t be coming in 2023, but there’s virtually no chance it will happen. So, unfortunately, fans will be waiting until 2024 to see the 2nd Season of Wednesday.
