Last month’s announced SXSW visit by Hideo Kojima has resulted in the reveal of a June 26 release date for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Pre-orders for the follow-up to the 2019 original open on March 17 for PlayStation 5. No word on the Steam version as of yet. You can check out the panel presentation below, along with the new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
In addition to the announcement, we’re also treated to a brand new trailer, which has a cheeky callback to one of Kojima’s most well-known titles.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach sees players embark on an inspiring mission of human connection beyond the UCA. Sam — with companions by his side — sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction. Join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles and a haunting question: should we have connected?

Also announced at the panel was Milan Records’ release of Woodkid’s “To The Wilder,” the lead single from Death Stranding 2. “To The Wilder” “features stirring string arrangements and vocals by Woodkid, providing an anthemic accompaniment to the eagerly awaited sequel,” and its exploration of human connection. “To The Wilder” is the first piece of music to be released as part of an overall collaboration between Woodkid and Kojima Productions for Death Stranding 2, and will be followed by an album of original music written by the artist for the game.
