Alice in Chains Cancel Show Due to Sean Kinney’s “Medical Emergency”

Alice in Chains were forced to cancel their show Thursday night (May 8th) at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, after drummer Sean Kinney experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency.

The incident happened right after the band’s soundcheck at what was to be the kickoff concert for a brief spring tour. A post on the band’s social media channels reads as follows:

“After our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency. We unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.”

The notice came as fans were arriving at the arena, according to several comments under the band’s X/Twitter post, with one person writing, “I literally pulled into the venue when fans told me.”

Alice in Chains scheduled a handful of headlining shows surrounding their upcoming appearances at the Sonic Temple and Welcome to Rockville festivals. No word yet regarding the band’s next scheduled show, which is set for Saturday (May 10th) at the MMR*B*Q in Camden, New Jersey.

Following the spring dates, Alice in Chains are set to perform at the final Black Sabbath concert in Birmingham, England on July 5th, as part of an all-star bill also featuring Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, Slayer, and more.

Here’s hoping that Sean Kinney makes a full recovery from his medical emergency. See Alice in Chains’ statement regarding the drummer below.

After our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency. We unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Refunds are available at the point of purchase.
