Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse in Nashville reportedly shut its doors on Saturday to avoid potential ICE raids sweeping the area.
Nashville Scene reports that employees without legal citizenship were told to leave work at Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse around 9:30 p.m. local time on Saturday in order to avoid detention by ICE agents.
“We were already understaffed because of the ICE raids throughout the weekend,” an employee, who asked to remain anonymous to avoid retaliation, told the Scene. “There was no one in the kitchen to cook the food.”
While Kid Rock licenses his name to Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse, the business is actually owned by conservative restaurateur Steve Smith. Per Nashville Scene, Smith’s other Nashville eateries also shut down Saturday night over ICE raid concerns, and on Sunday, some struggled with staffing as workers avoided returning to work, fearing arrest.
