‘Obsession’ Teaser – Be Careful What You Wish For in Curry Baker’s Buzzy Horror Film

The teaser trailer for Obsession introduces a Monkey’s Paw-style dilemma brought on by a mysterious product known as One Wish Willow.

The buzzy horror film will be released in theaters on May 15, 2026 via Focus Features and Blumhouse.

Written and directed by Curry Baker (Milk & Serial), Obsession currently has a 97% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the movie, after breaking the mysterious One Wish Willow to win his crush’s heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price.

Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter star.

James Harris, Haley Nicole Johnson, Christian Mercuri, and Roman Viaris produce, with Jason Blum, Leonora Darby, Mark Lane, David Haring, and Ruzanna Kegeyan executive producing.

Obsession premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year, followed by screenings at Fantastic Fest and Sitges, where it won the coveted People’s Choice Award.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review out of TIFF, “Obsession takes you on a wild ride. While Monkey’s Paw scenarios often yield predictable outcomes, and this outcome is practically telegraphed from the start, Barker manages to surprise with the journey itself. And it’s one insane journey paved with blood-soaked violence and no shortage of nightmare fuel.”

Barker’s next film, Anything But Ghosts, is set to be produced with Blumhouse and Spooky Pictures.
