    The official trailer for the upcoming drama movie Midwinter Break has been released, featuring Academy Award nominees Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) and Ciarán Hinds (Belfast) as a married couple going on a life-changing vacation. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 20, 2026.

    What do we know about Midwinter Break?

    “The movie is a stirring meditation on faith, commitment, and the enduring power of love, as a longtime couple takes a life-changing trip to Amsterdam,” reads the official synopsis.

    Midwinter Break hails from acclaimed British theater director Polly Findlay in her feature-length directorial debut. The movie is written by Bernard MacLaverty and Nick Payne, based on the 2017 novel by MacLaverty. The ensemble cast also includes Julie Lamberton, Ed Sayer, Angela Costello, Lewis Harris, Gerard McCarthy, Melany Maximus, and more.

    The movie is produced by Guy Heeley for Shoebox Films and Floor Onrust for Family Affair Films. Executive producers are David Kimbangi, Ollie Madden for Film 4, Sean Greenhorn, Steven Little for Creative Scotland, Dave Bishop, and Protagonist Pictures’ James Pugh. The creative team includes cinematographer Laurie Rose, editor Lucia Zucchetti, production designer Harry Ammerlaan, and composer Hannah Peel.

    Manville most recently starred in Netflix’s latest season of the crime anthology series Monster. Before Midwinter Break, she will next star in the R-rated horror comedy Cold Storage with Liam Neeson and Joe Keery. The acclaimed actress is also currently attached to star opposite Frances McDormand and Josh O’Connor in Joel Coen’s Jack of Spades movie. As for Hinds, he will next be seen in Netflix’s upcoming limited series East of Eden with Florence Pugh.
