Finn Wolfhard Animates George Harrison’s ‘Earth’

Having recently signed on to direct a film version of the Replacements biography Trouble Boys, musician and Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has directed the first music video for the classic 1973 George Harrison single “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth).” The stop-motion animation project was meticulously assembled by 20 animators from Toronto-based Nobody Told Me Studios and Tye Down Pictures.

The video shows a Harrison-like man moving through the fabled gardens of the late Beatle’s Friar Park estate in England as he trims hedges, watches the sunrise, cavorts with gnomes and sails on the back of a goose. The animation for “Give Me Love” was directed by Akash Jones; the video was produced by Jason Baum and Michael Wamara and executive produced by Harrison’s son Dhani and David Zonshine.

“To work with the Harrison family and bring this video to life with a team of incredible young Canadian artists has been a great honor,” says Wolfhard. “It’s hard to put into words how grateful I am for this opportunity. George Harrison has and will continue to be a huge inspiration to me, and his work will live on forever.”

Adds Dhani Harrison, “Finn is one of the sweetest and most talented people I know of his generation, and he is the perfect person to direct a video for my dad. My dad would have loved this, and I hope his wonderful, creative, heartfelt ideas help this song reach another generation. Great job, Finn — we love you.”

“Give Me Love” was the first single from Harrison’s 1973 album Living in the Material World and became his second No. 1 hit in the U.S. after “My Sweet Lord.” The LP was reissued in a 50th anniversary edition earlier this year.
