The Black Keys Ready 14th Studio Album

The Black Keys cover songs popularized by George Thorogood, R.L. Burnside, Arthur “Big Boy” Crudup and Dr. Feelgood on their 14th studio album, Peaches, which is due May 1 from frontman Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label through Warner. Their cover of Thorogood’s “You Got To Lose” is out now in tandem with an  E.J. McLeavey-Fisher-directed video filmed last month at Memphis’ Hernando’s Hide-A-Way.

The 10-song album was made during the final days of Auerbach’s father Chuck, who was diagnosed with esophageal cancer after suffering a stroke. He eventually died at 75 in April 2025. “We weren’t making a record. We were just jamming, like this is for us,” Dan Auerbach says. “Really primal, in a moment when all the nerves were raw, just kinda screaming. We were going through a lot, trying to lift our spirits. I think my dad getting sick made me not give a fuck and just wanna scream for a bit.”

Peaches is the first Black Keys album mixed entirely by the band since 2006’s Magic Potion and is adorned by a William Eggleston photo and art direction from Carney’s Grammy-winning brother Michael. The repertoire was inspired by Auerbach and Carney’s “record hang” DJ sets, about which Auerbach says, “I’d look for 45s specifically to play at the record hangs, but sometimes I’d find a song and think, ‘this might be fun for Pat and me to play live.’”

“Everything was all cut live in one with no separation, including vocals,” says Patrick Carney of the sessions. “It was a nightmare to mix but we got it sounding raw and filthy.” Per Auerbach, “shitty is pretty.”

Peaches is the follow-up to 2025’s No Rain, No Flowers, which reached only No. 52 on the Billboard 200. The Black Keys’ only announced gigs for this year are Jazz Fest in New Orleans on May 1, the Minnesota Yacht Club festival in St. Paul on July 17, and late August festivals Rock en Seine in Paris and Victorious in Southsea, England.

Here is the track list for Peaches:

    01. Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire
    02. Stop Arguing Over Me
    03. Who’s Been Foolin’ You
    04. It’s a Dream
    05. Tomorrow Night
    06. You Got To Lose
    07. Tell Me You Love Me
    08. She Does It Right
    09. Fireman Ring the Bell
    10. Nobody But You Baby
