Netflix recently canceled a new TV show after Season 1, and a cast member seeks ‘sweet revenge.’ Initially, the show was touted as a replacement for Stranger Things.

What did Denis O’Hare say about Netflix and The Boroughs?

Produced by The Duffer Brothers of Stranger Things fame, The Boroughs premiered last month. The sci-fi Netflix TV show instantly became a hit among critics, earning a phenomenal Tomatometer score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The show debuted with an impressive 5.6 million views during its opening weekend. The number further escalated to 9.5 million views in the full week. However, it then came down to 3.7 million views in the following week.

The Boroughs was previously rumored to receive a three-season renewal, but those plans will no longer move forward. After Netflix’s cancellation of the show last week, several cast members have expressed disappointment, and one of them is Denis O’Hare. The veteran actor played the role of Wally Baker in the sci-fi TV series.

Speaking with The Wrap, jokingly suggested that Emmy recognition for the show would be a form of ‘sweet revenge’ against Netflix. “Everyone seemed to find something to relate to. Anyway, so I think we still have a couple of days before the end of Emmy voting that everyone should just vote for ‘The Boroughs.’”

He added, “You can vote for me if you like. But also like Bill Pullman and Alfre Woodard and Alfie [Alfred] Molina and Geena Davis and Clarke Peters, Seth Numrich, Alice Kremelberg and vote for ‘The Boroughs’ for Best Series and, you know, stick it to Netflix and let them know that they made a mistake, you know, because I think that would be sweet revenge. Anyway, I love the show, I miss it and, you know, whatever.”

The rest of the cast also included Carlos Miranda, Jena Malone, Ed Begley Jr., Dee Wallace, Eric Edelstein, Rafael Casal, Mousa Hussein Kraish, Beth Bailey, Karan Soni, and more.

The Boroughs was the second Netflix project produced by The Duffer Brothers in 2026. They also produced a limited series, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. It was released on the streaming service in March.
