Gorillaz Announce House of Kong Exhibition in New York

These last nine-ish months have seen Gorillaz launch a veritable promotional blitz in continued support of their latest album, The Mountain, which has included the immersive House of Kong exhibition celebrating the group’s 25-year legacy. Now, they have announced plans to bring House of Kong to New York this fall.

The exhibition at Brooklyn’s Agger Fish Building runs from September 1st through 28th. (That’s the day before Gorillaz’s North American tour lands at New York’s Madison Square Garden.) The Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett-led project previously held two runs for House of Kong: London (August 8th to September 3rd, 2025) and Los Angeles (February 26th to March 19th).

House of Kong New York will run from 10:00 a.m to 10:00 p.m. every day, with the last entry set for 8:30 p.m. Exhibition tickets will first be available via a Kong Card holder’s pre-sale on Monday, June 29th at 10:00 a.m. ET. The general on-sale begins Tuesday, June 30th at 10:00 a.m. ET. For tickets and more info, head here.

The immersive exhibition serves as an ongoing celebration of the group’s 25th anniversary, as well as a peek behind the curtain of Gorillaz’s visual and sonic universe. The exhibition has been described as a “journey through the band’s life of misadventures, musical innovation, and groundbreaking virtual ways.” The concept was developed by artist and creative director Stephen Gallagher and his studio, SWEAR. Below, check out a trailer for the exhibition’s L.A. run.

Discussing the exhibit, Gallagher said in a press release, “House of Kong is not a retrospective, it’s an audio-visual artwork; an installation that takes a glance backwards in order to identify the path ahead,” adding, “It’s an honor to have been part of the Gorillaz family over the last 8 years. The outpouring of music and art that I have found myself immersed in, has changed my life. I hope that some of that comes across in this show. This is no ordinary exhibition because in the world of Gorillaz, nothing is ever quite as it seems.”

Albarn previously marked the closing of the exhibition with four unique performances at London’s Copper Box; the first night featured Gorillaz playing their debut album in full, the second night had them playing Demon Days in full, the third night was Plastic Beach, and the final night saw Gorillaz performing a “Mystery Show,” which contained live debuts of multiple tracks from The Mountain and songs from across their discography. They staged a similar pair of performances in LA, coinciding with the exhibition’s staging in the city.

The rest of the campaign behind The Mountain has seen Albarn and Hewlett release an animated short film that reinterpreted the Gorillaz characters “through the timeless aesthetic of 1960s animated features.” Then, in March, they made their long-awaited debut on Saturday Night Live with a pair of performances. Gorillaz’s 22-date arena tour kicks off on September 17th in Orlando. Tickets are available here.
