An Academy Award-winning composer has confirmed his return to the DC Universe for the highly anticipated sequel to The Batman. In a recent interview, Michael Giacchino shared his excitement about his involvement in the project, stating, “I don’t think there’s a world where Matt Reeves would allow me not to be involved.”
Giacchino recently attended the Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiere. During an exchange with ScreenRant, the Oscar winner confirmed that he will score the theme for The Batman Part II.
The film scorer previously composed the score of The Batman, which came out in 2022. Although no official deal has been signed yet, he stated that the director would not move forward without him.
“He and I are such good friends,” Giacchino said. “And I love working with Matt more than anybody; he’s the greatest. We still have a little bit of time for that. Good things come to those who wait.”
Moreover, this statement was sealed as the director himself responded to the post with a “100%” and three bat emojis.
Giachino is one of Hollywood’s renowned movie scorers. The artist earned an Academy Award for the Best Original Score for the movie Up. The composer also has worked on other Pixar movies like The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Inside Out, and Coco.
Moreover, he is famous for working on Marvel scores in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies, Doctor Strange, Thor: Love and Thunder, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Apart from these, his works also include the soundtrack for the hit series Lost and the ABC series Alias. He has also composed for the Star Trek reboot trilogy, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Jurassic World.
Who else is involved with The Batman: Part II, and when is the movie’s release date?
The Batman Part II is currently under production and directed by Reeves. Pattinson will reprise his titular role. Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, and Jayme Lawson will be returning for the sequel.
Moreover, the ensemble also includes new members Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry, and Sebastian Koch. Zoë Kravitz, who plays Catwoman/Selina Kyle, will not be reprising her role.
As of now, the plot details of the sequel are under wraps. The movie is slated to release on February 18, 2028.
