As the summer marches on, so too does Live at Lagunitas. For the July edition of the iconic beer brand’s summer concert series, we couldn’t help but get in on the fun. So, Consequence joined forces with Lagunitas for one sold-out night, featuring the talents of Bully, wilt, and Misfire SD. It turned out to be quite a special show, with cold beer, good food, and proceeds going towards the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Misfire SD opened the night, blowing the roof off the LaguMiniAmphitheaterette (or they would have, if the outdoor space had a roof) with their loud, noisy, anthemic shoegaze anthems. Rising California rockers wilt then followed suit, keeping the energy up with a rousing and grungy performance that featured a particularly killer cover of t.A.T.u’s “All the Things She Said.” (They might have also taken a sec to answer a six-pack worth of questions, so keep an eye out for that, wink wink…)
As the sun lowered, Bully finally emerged for the headlining set. Originally scheduled to be a full-band performance, songwriter Alicia Bognanno ultimately performed a rare solo set after a band member faced a medical emergency. Her first solo performance since 2023 and the longest she’s ever played on her own, the songwriter admitted on stage that she was prepared for the worst, even recounting how her last solo tour stressed her into a case of shingles. Instead, what followed was a deeply affecting, triumphant 60 minutes of music that had the audience in Bognanno’s hands.

Switching between guitar and piano throughout, the set included fan-favorites like “All I Do,” “Lose You,” and “Atom Bomb.” Even more exciting, she pulled out several new tracks from her yet-to-be-announced next album, teasing that more details are coming soon. After 10 songs and a self-admitted unusually high amount of stage banter, she closed out the night with a beautiful rendition of Mazzy Star’s classic “Fade into You.” As she said before leaving the stage, it was a show she’ll never forget. We have a feeling many in the crowd feel exactly the same.
With Bognanno being an outspoken animal lover, the cherry on top of the sundae of the night was the fact that all net VIPA ticket proceeds, plus one dollar from every PILS beer sold, supported the San Francisco SPCA, a nonprofit organization that’s dedicated to serving animals in the local community. The group advocates for proper care of animals, helps provide veterinary care, runs an adoption program, and more. Learn all about the SF SPCA here.
