The Ark Season 3 Episode 3 Introduces Significant Mysteries for the Rest of the Season

After finding out that Sharon is some sort of special G-44, The Ark Season 3 Episode 3 takes us deeper down the clone rabbit hole.

However, that’s not the only storyline that leaves us with a mystery to unravel throughout the season.

Homebase 1 has multiple mysteries that look like they will eventually combine, and it’s clear that Hammond is up to something much bigger.

Who is going to turn out to be the bigger bad: Drake, Hammond, or the potential aliens? The Ark Season 3 is getting more and more interesting by the hour.

Trust Is Really Trying to Redeem Himself

When we first met William Trust on The Ark Season 1, he was grouchy, egotistical, and rude, and I wondered if there was any way to redeem him.

Well, throughout the second season, there were hints that it was possible. I do think The Ark Season 3 has really advanced that possibility.

After initially caring about Eva during The Ark Season 3 Episode 2, he makes it clear in this installment that he’s checking in on others.

This man is not a people person, and I would never hold that against anyone. He’s awkward, and he doesn’t always think about what he’s saying, but his heart has been in the right place this season.

He doesn’t just care about Eva; he cares about Kabir, making it clear that he is there for her to talk to if she needs someone.

This is a woman who has held everything in about her ex-husband. The only person who knows is Marsh, so for Trust to recognize that something is eating at her is a huge deal.

I’m excited to see where it goes with Trust, especially as he made it clear that he’s observant in other ways.

That guy they brought in from the generator? It’s Trust who realized he’s wearing Angus’ clothes. Nobody else did, and we have to give Trust props for immediately recognizing this.

I wouldn’t expect Kabir to notice, though.

She wasn’t with Angus the day he went missing (unlike Trust), and she was trying to find out what was wrong with John Doe. So, I’m not blaming her for not realizing anything until Trust pointed it out.

She is observant in her own way, but I wish she were more observant when it came to Ves.

That woman is up to something.

Right now, it looks like Ves is viewing Kabir as the “crazy ex,” the one with stories of abuse. Look, if someone tells me their ex-partner hit them, I’m going to believe them.

There are only two reasons Ves wouldn’t take Kabir’s word: she’s either up to something with Milan, or she wants to make Kabir look crazy to get rid of her.

We know the two know something about these alien life forms, so they’re definitely up to something, but I do think she wants to get Kabir out of the way as well.

I get the sense that she gets a little bit jealous, and this is my least favorite storyline of the entire series. I can do without more jealous women putting other women down.

Who Is Holding Angus and Kelly Prisoner?

Since they were attacked at the end of The Ark Season 3 Premiere, Angus and Kelly have been trapped. I like that we finally get a sense of their time, as Kelly notes that they can’t survive without food.

    (Stefan Djakovic/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY © 2025 VERSANT MEDIA)

This also offers just a little bit of backstory for Angus. He was so underused throughout The Ark Season 2, but this episode has added a new layer to his story.

Hearing about his past life is sad, but we also got the reminder of the young man he really is. He’s passionate about space and exploration, about food and keeping people alive.

It’s been hard to remember this about him, so I’m looking forward to seeing how the show continues this growth from this point.

Having him be the one to figure out that the broken rocks were a puzzle to solve was the icing on the cake, as he reminds us of his smarts and how he tries to think outside the box.

Of course, it all raises some major questions, especially with the guy in Angus’ clothes trying to destroy the generator.

There are clearly indigenous people on this planet, and they don’t want the Ark survivors to create their own colony.

A lot of this can be taken from history. We can read about how explorers traveled the world and failed to even try to integrate with the local population.

These alien people — they may not be green men, but they are alien to our Earthlings — are sabotaging to create more of a divide between the Arks, the EF, and just in general.

People are always going to segregate and blame each other before looking outside.

The Ark survivors aren’t being given a chance — or are they? This is where I think Ves and Milan’s secret conversations will come in.

    (Stefan Djakovic/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY © 2025 VERSANT MEDIA)

Ves warned Felix not to keep looking for Angus and Kelly, likely because she knows what is out there, and that’s likely because her Ark faced them first.

While I don’t like the jealous woman, I do love a story of forming new habitats and survival, and that’s what the Homebase 1 story looks like it will turn into.

    What Is Hammond’s Endgame?

As all of this goes on, we have Ark One trying to find Sharon and Ian, who are on Ark 22. That ship happens to be in FTL, which means they can’t easily escape.

There’s not much extra to say about this storyline just yet.

The Ark Season 3 Episode 3 offers a chance to see Ian use knowledge that he actually has (rather from the coma dream) to save the day, and we get to see how Sharon and Ian think on their feet.

Other than that, it’s more of a case of getting them off the ship.

It was only at the very end that we got some sort of clue as to where the story with Drake could go.

It turns out that Sharon is a Gen 3 clone, and we already know that this generation had some major psychotic issues.

I thought the “crazy Sharons” locked up were actually like that because they’d been lobotomized in some way, but maybe Ian was right in that they’re Gen 3s.

    (Stefan Djakovic/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY © 2025 VERSANT MEDIA)

It’s likely possible that Sharon holds the key to making non-psychotic Gen 3s, which is likely what Drake needs.

We know he’s making more clones, and he won’t want the malfunction that was spotted earlier.

However, it’s not the Drake storyline that has me intrigued. While he seems like the biggest and most dangerous villain Ark One will have, I think there’s someone on the ship who is far more dangerous.

    Hammond is up to something.

He was too happy to take command, and while he initially had a point about not staying where the danger was, he was far too quick to want to escape Ark 22, despite Sharon and Ian being right there in the shuttle.

    (Stefan Djakovic/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./SYFY © 2025 VERSANT MEDIA)

This was a man who didn’t want to give up command, so what is he up to?

Sharon has looked into his files, so it’s not that he wasn’t really an admiral on his Ark, but something isn’t sitting right.

The quiet ones are always plotting something bigger. The ones who can hold in their anger are always the most dangerous, and I think that’s what we have with Hammond.

What do you have to say after this suspenseful hour?
