Kit Connor’s latest photo has X-Men fans losing it over the MCU’s new Cyclops. The actor’s physical transformation sparked a wave of reactions, but some fans think the photo tells a different story.

X-Men’s Cyclops fans react to Kit Connor’s new photo

Kit Connor’s new photo showing his physical transformation sparked excitement among X-Men fans on social media on August 19. ComicBook.com shared the image on X, noting that Connor “is getting into fighting shape in a newly shared photo.” The actor will play Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops, in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men movie.

Fans quickly flooded the replies with enthusiastic reactions to Connor’s physique. One user wrote, “the villains in the mcu better watch out.” Another fan simply exclaimed, “YESSSSS,” while one user joked, “Thank god it’s him and not Cooper Hoffman.” A separate reply read, “That arm could snap a neck,” highlighting the actor’s noticeable muscle gain.

However, some fans pointed out the photo may not be related to X-Men at all. A fan account clarified that Connor appeared alongside Mark Humphreys, his personal trainer for the upcoming video game adaptation Elden Ring. One user also noted, “I think that was for Elden Ring,” suggesting the transformation ties to his other project with director Alex Garland.

Connor’s casting as Cyclops first emerged when Deadline reported that Marvel Studios selected him for the role. Director Jake Schreier and Marvel president Kevin Feige met with several candidates before landing on Connor. Disney later revealed the principal cast publicly at its D23 2026 event, alongside names like Sadie Sink as Jean Grey and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister.

The untitled X-Men film will hit theaters on May 5, 2028, with Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-creator Joanna Calo co-writing the script. Connor recently reprised his breakout role in the movie spinoff Heartstopper Forever and also appeared in Alex Garland’s A24 war film Warfare. Fans remain eager to see how Connor brings the iconic X-Men team leader to the big screen.
