Sony Pictures has released the action-packed trailer for Jim Caviezel’s Ghost Soldier. The upcoming film will see Caviezel unleash his lethal Special Forces skills, taking on a powerful corporation determined to seize his community’s land. Previously known for playing Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson’s 2004 film, audiences will see a very different side of the actor in the upcoming action film.

Ghost Soldier follows Caviezel as Henry “Fitz” Fitzgerald, a solitary man with a mysterious past. While he’s trying to live a quiet life, he’s forced to go back into action when a foreign corporation attempts to seize his and his community’s land for a massive payday. This forces Fitz to put his Special Forces skills into action using advanced weapons, waging a one-man war to save his hometown.

The trailer opens with Caviezel protecting the children in his hometown, fostering a warm relationship with its residents. Elsewhere, a company called Brownstone tries to pay people in Fitz’s community to sell their land to them. Fitz comments that it is “corporate tyranny”, and Brownstone sends its thugs to his house to dispose of him. However, they find a hidden bunker at Fitz’s place, inviting the wrath of the former Special Forces soldier. Fitz uses several high-tech, advanced weapons against his enemies, including an invisibility suit.

Ghost Soldier is directed by William Eubank from a screenplay written by Chris Papasadero. The film is produced by David Zelon and William Sherak. Jim Caviezel, Joseph Micucci, Paul Neinstein, and James Vanderbilt serve as executive producers. Besides Caviezel, the film stars Olivia Thirlby, Beau Knapp, Garret Dillahunt, and Shea Whigham.

Most recently, Caviezel starred in Sound of Freedom and Dark Horse. The actor is also well known for playing the main lead in Person of Interest, which ran for five seasons on CBS.

Ghost Soldier will be released in theaters on an undisclosed date.
